SYDNEY (Reuters) - A vital upheaval of bulk 7.1 struck the Solomon Islands on Sunday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported, but there no evident reports of casualties or damage.
USGS pronounced the quake"s epicenter was 32.2 miles deep, 60 miles southwest of the Solomon Islands" Kira Kira in the Pacific Ocean. It strike at 8:40 p.m. (5:40 a.m. ET).
Officials at the Solomon Islands Broadcasting Corporation, contacted by write from Sydney, Australia, pronounced they had not listened of any deaths or repairs but that a little residents on a circuitously island had fled to high land fearing a tsunami.
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center pronounced the quake, primarily reported as a bulk 7.5, could "generate internal tsunamis that can be mortal along coasts located inside of 100 kilometers (62 miles) of the trembler epicenter."
A bulk 7.1 upheaval can means widespread, complicated damage.
